After being asked to leave a hotel bar because he was bothering a female guest, an intoxicated Maryland man took out his frustration on an employee early Saturday morning, police say.
Richard Kessler, 51, of 937 Sedgley Rd, Catansville, has been charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Police say an employee at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains asked Kesler to leave the hotel's bar after Kesler was "bothering" a female guest at about 2:45 a.m. According to an arrest report, Kesler left the bar but returned a few minutes later and confronted the employee.
The employee walked to the phone lobby to call for help, but Kesler followed him there and snatched the phone away, police say. When the employee walked back to his desk police say Kessler threw the man to the ground and punched him in the head and upper body.
According to police, Kesler kicked the man in the head as hotel guests broke up the altercation.
Police say the employee had blood on his shirt when they arrived and had to be hospitalized. The employee was able to identify Kesler at the scene, police say.
Kessler was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
