Police: Man Carrying Cocaine Punches Woman

A man who punched a woman during a dispute in a White Plains parking lot early New Years Day was also carrying more than a gram of cocaine, police say.

Michael Quiroz, 24, of 60 S Stone Ave., Elmsford, was arrested along Mamaroneck Ave. at about 1:07 a.m. after the alleged female victim flagged down police. Quiroz was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and third-degree assault and resisting arrest, misdemeanors.

Police say the woman had injuries and cuts to her face and said Quiroz punched her during a dispute in the parking lot at 25 Waller Ave. Police say Quiroz backed away when he was approached for questioning and swatted away the arm of a police officer who tried to stop him. A bouncer at Elements Bar helped police stop Quiroz and the suspect was arrested at the scene, according to an arrest report.

Police found about 1.16 grams of cocaine while searching Quiroz's pockets, according to an arrest report.

Quiroz was held for court.
