Police: Man Caught With Crack Near Playground

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 39-year-old White Plains man faces a misdemeanor charge after he was caught with crack-cocaine near a City housing complex, police say.

Stephen Williams, of 85 Old Mamaroneck Road, has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a misdemeanor.

Police conducting surveillance of the area noticed Williams and another man in a playground near the housing complex at 33 Fisher Ave. at about 12:28 a.m. Thursday morning. Police say Williams reached into his pocket and handed the man a small item and walked behind the building.

Police questioned both men separately, and say they found a small amount of crack-cocaine in Williams' pocket. Police released the second man, according to an arrest report.
