Police: Man Was Carrying 3.3 Ounces of Pot

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A White Plains man faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge after police say he was caught carrying a bag containing more than three ounces of pot.

David Lopez, 27, of 19 Old Mamaroneck Road, was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fourth-degree, a misdemeanor.

Police say Lopez was showing another man the inside of a bag while standing at the intersection of Mamaroneck and Livingston Ave. at about 7:34 p.m. Friday night. The second man was holding money in his hand and police believed they were witnessing a drug deal.

As police approached, Lopez put the bag in a backpack, according to an arrest report. When police searched the bag they say they found 84 small red-tinted bags and 22 yellow-tinted bags of marijuana.

The total weight of the marijuana was 3.3 ounces, according to an arrest report.

Police arrested Lopez and charged him at police headquarters. No drugs were found on the second man and he was released at the scene, according to arrest reports.

Lopez was held on $500 bail, according police.
