Police: Open Beer Can Leads to Drug Charge

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

A Connecticut man walking down Mamaroneck Ave. with an open container of beer was also carrying a bag of crack-cocaine in his pocket, police say.

Irving Diaz, 23, of 30 Dolsen Pl., Stamford, Ct, was arrested at about 2:33 a.m. Friday after police say they saw him walking with the open beer can near 84 Mamaroneck Ave. After placing Diaz under arrest, police say they found a small Zip-loc bag of crack-cocaine in Diaz's right pocket. Police also found four pills believed to be narcotics, according to an arrest report.

Diaz was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree, a misdemeanor, and was issued a ticket for open container.

A judge set bail at $250.
