White Plains Man Accused of Punching Capitol Theatre Security Staffer

Police: Security worker hit as he went to investigate problem.

A White Plains man was charged with assault Thursday night at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester in connection with an attack on a security staff member at the theater, according to Port Chester Police.

Frank Magnotto, 33, of 14 Soundview Ave., White Plains, was charged with third-degree assault after an 11:44 p.m. incident at the theater on Westchester Avenue, where a fundraising concert was taking place. The Charlie Scopoletti “Truth Concert and Charity Event" raised money for programs close to Scopoletti’s heart – the Imerman Angels, which connects cancer survivors with patients, and the Natalia Crespo Eirin Foundation, formed and named in memory of Scopoletti’s childhood friend who died of brain cancer at a young age.

Police said a security staff member went to investigate a woman who was "being loud" at the theater when he was punched in the face. As Port Chester police officers arrived at the theater, Magnotto was being held on the ground by security staff.

The security officer was not injured, but police said he had visible redness where he was hit in the face.

Magnotto was charged with third-degree assault and he was later released pending a Port Chester Village Court hearing. Police said there were no other incidents at the theater.
