White Plains Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Virginia Home Invasion Robbery Case

Marklin Antonio Mitchell Jr., 21, of White Plains, NY, is one of four suspects who were charged with robbery and attempted murder for their roles in an alleged home invasion that took place Saturday in James City County, Va.

James City County is about 50 miles southeast from Richmond, Va.

Mitchell along with Williamsburg, Va. residents Christopher Allen Williams, Jr., 21; Devonte J. Hayes, 21; and D’Andre Andrews Hardy, 21.after they participated in a robbery in which one man was shot and another victim was hit on the head with a chair, police said.

The suspects allegedly entered the home, located at the Lafayette Village Apartments, in search of money. Police said they wore bandanas over their faces and brandished a shotgun during the incident.

The apartment was occupied by five individuals, ranging in age from 16 to 22, and two small children at the time of the robbery.

There was a struggle and one of the victims, a 20-year-old James City County man, was shot in the neck and arm. Another victim, a 16-year-old male, was hit over the head with a chair.

A witness reported seeing the suspects flee in a gold-colored Ford Taurus and police said they were able to locate the vehicle an hour-and-a-half later. The vehicle was stopped at a nearby 7-Eleven and police took two of the suspects into custody.

Police said they were able to track the two other suspects a short time later.

All four men were transported to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond. The case remains under investigation.

The shooting victim was transported to a hospital in Richmond, Va. for surgery and is expected to recover from his injuries.
