White Plains Man Hit with Drug Charges

Traffic violation on Sprain Brook Parkway leads to arrest.

A While Plains man was charged will illegal drug possession after he was stopped by a state trooper on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh for a problem with his tail lights, according to State Police.

Iyad I. Abdullah, 41, of 23 Lark Ave., was stopped at 9:53 p.m. Friday by a trooper based in Hawthorne. Police said they discovered Abdullah was driving a car with a suspended registration, which led to the discovery of illegal drugs in the car.

Police said Abdullah was found to be in possession of two pill bottles containing white powder, Xanax, Methadone, Endocet and Diazepam. He was charged seventh-degree with criminal possession of a controlled substance and later was released pending a hearing in Greenburgh Town Court on Oct. 25.
