Council to Vote on Loan for Winbrook Adult Education/Job Skills Facility

A special meeting of the White Plains Common Council will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m.

While the White Plains Housing Authority hopefully awaits the outcome of a $3.5 million grant application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the construction of the Winbrook Community Education Facility—the White Plains Common Council plans to vote Wednesday night on whether to loan HUD $1.5 million to partially fund the project.

The adult education and job skills training center—to be located on the Winbrook Public Housing complex site—will serve Winbrook residents, as well as all city residents.

The council will provide the loan only if the grant is awarded, and totals at least $3.5 million.  The council will vote during a special meeting—announced Wednesday afternoon—to be held at city hall at 8 p.m.
