Gillibrand to Visit West Nyack, Talk LGBT Legislation

Senator will hold discussion at Rockland Center for the Arts.

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will visit the Nyacks for the second time in as many months Thursday evening, this time to discuss legislation that impacts gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents in the Lower Hudson Valley and beyond.

Gillibrand is slated to attend a roundtable discussion at , where she will sound off on federal LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) laws and grants.

"These roundtables bring together the LGBT community to talk about pressing issues," said Joseph Coe, a life-long Rockland residents and community liaison with VCS Inc., which runs Gay Pride Rockland. Coe will be at Thursday's meeting, he said.

Talking points on the agenda will likely be federal immigration issues that same-sex couples face, and how to create support structure for the local LGBT residents.

Nyack's former mayor and , John Shields, is openly gay.

Gillibrand was last in Nyack in late August, . She also about the Republican National Convention.

Previous blogs say it well. Gillibrand hasn't contributed one thing to NYS. Worse than Hillary. Even Schumer's ridiculous Sunday news conferences have more value. (Did I really say that?). Typical representative of a political party that's COMPLETELY out of touch and the captive of every fringe cause out there.

Jobs,Jobs should be the issue. I thank God (Yes I wrote God) that I am retired and that I am no longer in the work force. No I am not receiving one of those high pensions. With the contract soon to be approved for the new TZB she should be out making sure that Obama is not out there approving the contract going to China as he has done for a twin bridge in California worth $7.2 Billion another bridge in Texas & yes the Alexandra Hamilton bridge in New York City.
