Michelle Obama to Hold Campaign Fundraiser at Blue Hill Sunday

It will be the First Lady's second trip to the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in two years; this time for a campaign fundraiser for her husband.

The news that Michelle Obama is coming to our area started with a tweet:

On July 3, News 12 reporter Tara Rosenblum tweeted: “The first lady is heading to Westchester! Michelle Obama will be @ Blue Hill Farm in Bedford on July 15 for a fundraiser for the President.”

Well, sort of. It looks like Michelle Obama is coming to Blue Hill Restaurant at Stone Barns on Bedford Road, in Pocantico Hills.

But getting more info right now on Sunday's would-be event is like trying to sniff out truffles in the forest.

's Communications Director Mara Flanagan had no comment.

Calling the White House – which surprisingly gets picked up before the phone even seems to ring – yielded an email address to the First Lady's Press Office. The email sent this morning was soon answered but with no more advance info. "We are happy to provide a pull report and full transcript after the event if you would be interested," said the unnamed emailer.

Stone Barns enjoys a nice relationship with Michelle Obama, who toured the agricultural educational center back in September 2010. She visited the farm with wives of UN dignitaries when area third graders were participating in farm-based education, followed by a lunch at the prestigious Blue Hill. The Pocantico Hills children there were obviously thrilled with the opportunity to .

Dan Barber, executive chef at Blue Hill, is a member of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. The council was formerly dedicated to fitness and sports, but under this First Lady's leadership it added the healthy eating component of nutrition to its efforts.

Well, I have a gorgeous Bernese Mountain dog. Where's my rebate?
Joan's WP July 14, 2012 at 01:01 pm
One can easily infer that Joe Taxpayer is advocating for Romney by his reprehensible comments. It's amazing that President Obama has accomplished as much as he has, considering the obstructionist Republican Congress whose only goal is to prevent his reelection. Politics not policy is their mantra and the public be damned. By the way, who caused the bleeding? The Republicans
Yvonne Gumowitz July 14, 2012 at 01:41 pm
3 Trillion dollars wasted on a war based on lies... where was the conservative outrage then?
J.R Burrows July 14, 2012 at 02:38 pm
costofwar.org puts that price tag at 4.4 trillion once all the receipts are tallied. One could easily be thrilled that Congress has slowed his socialist agenda and wasteful spending. This isn't the hope and change I voted for. I took Joe's original post (although not the kindest) to be aimed at the first lady who has a record of luxurious traveling on taxpayer dollars.
Joan's WP July 14, 2012 at 03:52 pm
I see that you have bought all the right wing propaganda and outright lies. In this corrosive political atmosphere, actual facts are meaningless. One fact in particular that the opposition ignores is that Pres. Bush kept the Iraq war off the books, while Pres. Obama included it in his budget. Therefore, his honest accounting of war spending is used against him, while Pres. Bush, keeping this spending out of his budget, skated by. As for the First Lady's "record of luxurious traveling on taxpayer dollars," that is another falsehood. She did travel to Spain once, and that is the basis for this story. On the other hand, Pres. Bush spent over $124 million taxpayer dollars on trips to his Texas ranch to clear brush. He spent
more money on non-official travel than any other president in history. In fact, he set the presidential record for most vacation days. I didn't hear any complaints from the Republicans about any of this. Did you?

So why was my "Mooch is back" comment deleted? If the cows thing is good, certainly Mooch , the only FLOTUS with 21 personal assisstants (all the others needed only one), is good.
Maybe it was the part about her law license being surrendered that got the comment booted.
Dan Seidel July 14, 2012 at 05:33 pm
Joan, with all due respect: the fact that someone keeps $$$ offshore does not bother me or any other person who knows business and interest rates and investments. Debby Wasserman Schmutz does the same thing - critique please? The guy made loads of money - GOOD FOR HIM !!!! I ASPIRE!!!!! WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?!!!!
I am voting Romney - nationally, Obummah is a disgrace and a scam on the American People. He's a foreign policy disaster and ultimate nightmare. We are now not trusted, we are a second rate paper tiger on the world stage and a laughing stock of the world. Imam Obummah has thrown American our allies and our Constitution under the bus. and he has NO RIGHT to hold the office - his father was Kenyan and NOT a Citizen of the USA when O was born - O is NOT Natural Born - special rules under OUR Constitution for holding the office of POTUS. Step away from the koolaid.
Dan Seidel July 14, 2012 at 05:42 pm
Yvonne, change the laws. Romney did what anyone of us would do, if we had the chance - take full advantage of all tax laws, including any deduction we can find. That is fair. Do not like the outcome? change the laws. Elect people who will do that. THAT is the American Way. To pick on someone because they have wealth? GOOD FOR THEM!!!!! Don't we all want to "make it"? Isn't that part of the American Dream? Be proud of him for doing that! I am.
Obummah? to be relegated to the garbage heap of wannabe Dictators. PS> what is Obummah hiding? why all those sealed records? Why Executive Privilege in the felony murder cases of FastAndFurious? Time to impeach and indict Obama for felony murder - ATF Agents Terry and Zapata murdered because of O's attempt to beat up on the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. NOBAMA IN 2012!!!!!!!!!!! and everyone please check out the new videos and pix posted to the FASNY articles about TeaTown "consults" (a Geoff Thompson adventure again). Where ya gonna put all that water everytime it rains hard?
Dan Seidel July 14, 2012 at 06:06 pm
Maybe we can turn NY into a POTUS red state this go round.
Yvonne Gumowitz July 14, 2012 at 08:36 pm
Dan, Dan, Dan... if you look at this nation's history you will see that the rich pay the lowest taxes EVER! It takes money to run a country and squeezing it out of the bottom is a regressive tax, and as the name implies it leads to regression in everything. The Bush tax cuts have been in place for over 10 years now. WHERE ARE THE JOBS? While stashing your cash may not be illegal per se, it is certainly unamerican. You would do it, too? Wow. Not me. Keep fighting for the 1%....
Joe Taxpayer July 14, 2012 at 08:51 pm
Nice overlook of all the other trips in which the present first family flew separately and spent our money on frills. more comical is that it didn't take long for the predictable, typical and long played out liberal Bush lines to come out. Far stretch to blame him for damage caused by this present clown's weak leadership. Sounds like two feminists who were touched by the original comparison to a cow. Don't be so frustrated gals by your guy's poor performance. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid!
Dan Seidel July 14, 2012 at 09:53 pm
Yvonne, in Danny's world - one MAKES their career, not WAIT for someone to hand it to them. No one is guaranteed a job, wealth, health insurance - one must make one's own way. That's the way I raised my kids - and there is success - these kids pushed and got jobs and have careers. My neice? upwards ot $300,000 for med school loans, etc. - she's got a job and she's paying off her contractual obligations. Noone told her to sign for loans - she did it because she wanted the career. My son bought his own house - he's making his own way - he applied for a job, got it because of smarts and ability and passion and gumption. He's a success. Government is not here for passing out jobs and never should be. and the 99/1% thing is horse manure and you know it. The stats are pure crud. If anyone has a beef, you know it's me - the USDA, Gillibrand, Lowey, Hall - all turning their spineless backs on a working alternative fuel project. You know what? I know I created jobs. I made an alternative fuel low cost sustainable heating product. I got a NYSERDA grant. I should have waited for the gov't to create something for me? nah - not the way I was raised nor the way I operate. And tell me you do not take every deduction you can on your taxes...you just say: nah, let the gov't have that - it's ok. I do not think so. let's be honest here. I will never begrudge someone's right to be wealthy - all power to them. I would say: well played! so to Romney I say: well played - you get my vote.
Dan Seidel July 14, 2012 at 10:33 pm
Joan: in re FLOTUS trips - google : flotus trips michelle - QUITE A FEW - in fact many many at millions. Lately she likes to leave for her part of the vacation on a separate plane, before Obummah - rumor is she's seeing one of the Secret Service agents. and we pay for it. she is NOT a nice person.
and the crack about "all this about a flag?" at Arlington National Cemetary during a ceremony? I think SHE is a disgusting waste of air. Blame this sentiment on my Stalinist background - my Alinsky learnings. I was raised in the left - I know it for what it has become - wretched, warped, dictatorial and UnDemocratic - the "left" is an uneducated mob of brownshirts now - I am off that train for good. The revolution has been stolen by profiteers and union thugs. Time to bring back American Exceptionalism and support for the US Constitution WITHOUT more amendments. Its good the way it is. PS: ever read it? I know, I am asking too much, right? I teach it - read it many many times. I like it!
Dan Seidel July 14, 2012 at 10:39 pm
Well, truth be told, I do not like the 27th Amendment - I can see the pros and cons, but I do not like it.
Joe Taxpayer July 15, 2012 at 12:40 am
Dan sounds like he'd be an excellent VP nominee!
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 12:58 am
Thank you kind sir! (as I close the blinds...and activate the outside motion detector sensors).
Joe Taxpayer July 15, 2012 at 01:08 am
Just think how your life will change with 24 hour Secret Service protection and the ability to spend other people's money at will.
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 01:17 am
and yeah I'd put my money in overseas accounts, if I had any, if that's where the better returns were. That's what stock portfolios do - emerging markets? World Bank? the banks also give money to provide seed funds for developing nations - why not? a world without borders is what we strive for, right? I used to and still do, however as long as American Law applies and the US Constitution (unlike that prune Ginsberg - she's suffering from dementia) applies for all. If not a secular Constitutional world - borders up and high! I'll still invest overseas - you car was made where? and all the parts, paint - where? Iphone? computer? air conditioner? underwear? socks? all the electronic devices need heavy rare earths - coltan from Uganda - outsourced. The outsourcing and overseas investing arguments are garbage. and since when was making a buck a bad thing? I never thought so. I thought that is what we do as a process of being part of this society. Only since 2008 when that moron was elected as President it has become shameful to earn money anda accumulate wealth - Obozo can't even speak without a teleprompter - we all can - what's up with that? I really think he is stupid - seriously. His entire "professor" resume is fake as well. he was an adjunct, like me, and never taught Constitutional law. He lies about that, even though records show otherwise - look it up. He's a pathological liar. He too "voluntarily" surrendered his law license. Why? both of them?
O MUST GO!!
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 02:09 am
You mean I would be able to fly into town during rush hour, stop traffic because I'm on the road, piss everbody off, go to Scarsdale and pick up bags of money from chumps, then stop rush hour traffic again, piss off more people and fly out back to DC - all on the taxpayer dime?
You have something there! I could be....another Biden!
Yvonne Gumowitz July 15, 2012 at 02:22 am
Mittens Romney loves America the way a tick loves a dog.
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 02:38 am
At least Mittens doesn't eat dog.
:>)
J.R Burrows July 15, 2012 at 02:42 am
ticks/ liberals - same thing (blood suckers)
Joan's WP July 15, 2012 at 12:50 pm
Are you aware that you right wingers sound like raving lunatics? And you are so filled with hate.
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 01:14 pm
Not hate, frustration.
And really stop and think about that, or better yet read Barry Rubin on labels: right wing, left wing, center - all meaningless. I just hope I am right, ya' know: correct and reading facts, raw data, consensus by real scholars and analyists - one with real insight and credibility - which enable me to try and make reasoned decisions and see thru EVERYONE'S smoke and mirrors. Joan, and I am assuming you are familiar with me, I am considered a left wing fanatic - so far left I've gone right. At any rate, personal and secular national liberty as well as justice are at the root of "our" cry outs. Please read the Rubin piece: http://rubinreports.blogspot.com/2012/01/are-you-left-wing-or-right-wing.html Like Rubin says: Hopefully I'm Honest and Accurate Wing. So who is throwing hate jabs? Calling out politicians - name calling trying to evoke emotions? that IS politics. Personally? I am assuming we are all very nice people who would give the shirt off our backs to someone in true need. so in that spirit: NOBAMA IN 2012!!!! WORK FOR CHANGE!!! HOPING DOES NOT GET THE JOB DONE. - Publius
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 01:29 pm
and if one reads the comments to that article, amazing philosophical discussions by free thinkers talking: Kant, Plato, Nietzche, federalists, Marx - doctrines, quotes. Nothing like we have here.
Invective and radical chic sloganeering and chanting destroys credibility. Fact and reason control. Now go forth and learn - if not now, when?
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 01:42 pm
and here's a FASNY OT: any comments on the Ridgeway flooding pics and videos posted on the Teatown articles? C'mon: think global, act local!!
feedback? opinions? anybody else got others?
Joan's WP July 15, 2012 at 04:41 pm
Dan, why are you bringing up FASNY on this thread? There is no connection.
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 05:18 pm
OT = off topic. so, did you look at the pics? What's your impression? There are not many who post, so no matter who or what, everything is valued and thought about (before or if I spew).
ok- connection: Stone Barns would maybe run the restaurant at Ridgeway, should we go eminent domain or something like that. The only real alternative to all this nonsense.
Joan's WP July 15, 2012 at 05:38 pm
I see how you made your connection re: FASNY, but it's still a reach here. Of course I looked at your pictures. When it rains on the former RCC you need water wings and a rowboat.
Dan Seidel July 15, 2012 at 08:53 pm
Thank you for looking and commenting. the land is very very wet - it's the low point of the area.
Maybe Michelle can bring some $$$ here to save the Corridor to the Sound! What a concept!

I'm glad to see someone else put on paper some of the reaction I have had to being required to pay aRead More fee to park at WestMed. I think the fee is unconscionable! I was even more insulted when I received a tone-deaf response to my complaint about the fee from the head of WestMed. I understand that WestMed ended up paying considerably more for the parking facility than anticipated, but that's no justification for charging clients who have no choice but to park there in order to receive vital services. It's a gross insult to the patients. It's not our fault that WestMed had to cough up more dough. With new WestMed locations being opened every few months, clearly the company is not hurting financially. And, what's most ridiculous, is that they hired a staff of four or five parking attendants to issue tickets and instruct us how to pay for the parking! Why not use their salaries to help defray the facility's cost? You're right that it's pure greed because WestMed could have chosen to recoup the cost more slowly and not charge a fee. When I expressed my displeasure about the fee to my doctor, he posed an interesting question: when the facility's cost is paid off, will WestMed continue to charge for parking? By this time, WestMed has certainly recouped enough of the cost to make a dent in the overall expense. It's time to get rid of the fee and restore some dignity to what used to be a fine organization. In the past I heartily recommended family, friends and many others to WestMed. Now, I've got a very nasty taste in my mouth about WestMed! Shame on you, WestMed!
Clifford Blau June 15, 2013 at 09:48 am
It's not true that parking is required. You could do as I do and walk there (assuming it isRead More actually the White Plains office you are referring to and not Harrison), or take a bus, or a taxi, or have someone drop you off and pick you up. And if you aren't happy with their service, go somewhere else. There are lots of doctors not affiliated with Westmed.
Cathy G June 15, 2013 at 04:41 pm
Clifford, thanks for your two cents! How lucky for you that you can walk to your doctor's office andRead More not have to pay to park!
