Participating city salons will offer great deals on services, like 50 percent off a haircut, blow-dry or color! Discounts are by appointment only.

New and old clients welcome, though current clients must have a new client referral to confirm an appointment.

2.) Westchester to the Bahamas

Westchester County Airport and Jet Blue will start non-stop flights to the Bahamas starting in the fall. Click here for more information.

4.) Volunteer in Honor of Sept. 11

In honor of Sept. 11, Westchester County and The Volunteer Center of United Way will promote the national “I Will,” on Friday Sept. 9 at the , in order to recruit volunteers and match them with agencies that need their help.

The free event—also dubbed, “Serve and Learn: Westchester Remembers 9/11”—will take place from 2-7 p.m. You’ll also be able to serve on the spot by participating in a blood and food drive, and creating care packages for soldiers.

5.) Garbage Pick-Up Pilot Program Coming to Some Neighborhoods

White Plains will launch a pilot program for automated side loader garbage and recycling pick-up later this summer.

The affected neighborhoods include: Colonial Corners, Prospect Park, Rocky Dell/Reynal Park and Soundview.
