Saunders Handed Felony Indictment for Murder of White Plains Mom

The Daily White Plains reports that Michael Saunders, 49, of Yonkers was indicted on a felony charge by a grand jury Monday. Saunders is accused of fatally shooting White Plains mother Sabrina Durrah in her apartment at 312 Main St. on March 21 in the head and chest.

Saunders is believed to be the father of the Durrah’s 4-month-old child who was found dehydrated near her mother’s dead body. Baby Jayme is believed to have been next to her mother’s body for at least a day.

The Journal News Says White Plains Needs a Public Review of Police Conduct 

The Journal News says the City of White Plains is obligated to undergo a through review of police tactics regardless of whether or not a grand jury decides that White Plains Police should be brought up on criminal charges in the death of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. 

This inquiry, with community leaders at the table, should include police and civilian professionals from outside the City’s jurisdiction, along with experts who can discuss best practices for engaging individuals who may be in emotional distress, as well as how to de-escalate confrontations and reducing the need for force—The Journal News' editorial said.

Graduates Film Comedy at Burke, White Plains High School

graduates Andrew Southard and Michael Gugger will return to their alma matter to film a 10-minute comedy titled “Boomer,” according to The Daily White Plains. Filming for the movie, which will be featured at the Brooklyn College Film Festival, will also take place at the .
