Police: Prescription Pill Leads to Drug Arrest

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A White Plains man faces a misdemeanor charge after police say he was caught with an unauthorized prescription pill.

Philip Quiroz, 22, of 5 George St., was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a misdemeanor. 

According to police, Quiroz and another man were in a vehicle parked near the intersection of Sterling Ave. and Orchard Pkwy on Nov. 2. Police went to check on the vehicle and smelled marijuana, according to an arrest report.

The second man, a 22-year-old from White Plains, admitted the marijuana belonged to him, police say. That man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Police say they also found a prescription pill in the vehicle. Quiroz told police the pill belonged to him and that he did not have a prescription, according to an arrest report.

Quiroz was charged at police headquarters and later released on $100 bail.
