Residents Urged to Register for Federal Aid

As expected, the federal government has declared Westchester County a disaster area due to Hurricane Sandy. Anyone who sustained damage during the storm is now urged to register with FEMA.

Now that the President has officially declared Westchester County a disaster area, residents who sustained unreimbursed property damage during Hurricane Sandy are urged to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agancy (FEMA).

The declaration makes individuals and governments eligible for help, but they must register first.

“This is important information for all of those in our county who have been devastated by Sandy,” Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino said in a statement. “We will continue to share information as we get it. In the meantime I urge people to register with FEMA.”
