White Plains Youth Bureau, Senior Center Activities Cancelled; Trash Pickup Resumes

The following announcement was sent by the City of White Plains.

Roads are passable but please exercise caution if you must drive.  With temperatures remaining in the single digits, and snow drifts, city crews will be continuing to plow throughout the day. There will be strict enforcement of the City’s ban on overnight on-street parking as vehicles left on the street severely limit our ability to clear the snow and can create hazardous road conditions.  Tickets will be issued for cars parked on the streets from 2:00 am until 6:00 am as DPW crews will continue working throughout the night.

  •  Normal garbage and recycling pick-up is taking place but there may be delays.
  • The Library is open with normal hours today 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
  • All Recreation and Parks morning programs have been cancelled.  Please call Ebersole Ice Rink at 422-1390 after 3:00 pm for more information on afternoon programs.
  •  The Youth Bureau has cancelled all programs for today.
  •  The Senior Center has cancelled all programs and classes for today.

The weather forecast over the next several days calls for single digit temperatures with dangerous wind chills.  If you live in a multi-family building and have no heat and you have not received a satisfactory response from your building manager or superintendent as to the cause of the problem, please contact the City Building Dept. at 422-1269 or 422-1287 during normal business hours and the Dept. of Public Safety non-emergency line at 422-6111 after normal business hours.
