Medication management and ways to improve your memory will be the topics at the 18th annual “Healthy Living” – or “Viviendo Saludablemente” – conference for Spanish-speaking seniors on Saturday, Sept. 15 at White Plains Hospital, located at 41 E. Post Road, White Plains.
The program for people age 60 and older will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Marion W. Fried Auditorium and will include a continental breakfast.
The event’s keynote speaker will be Neldy Martinez, R.N., from ElderServe Health Inc., who will discuss how to manage your medications. ElderServe Health, an affiliate of the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale, is a New York State managed long-term care program that helps seniors remain in their homes as they age with as much independence as possible.
Licet Valois, a social worker at the Center of Excellence on Brain Aging at the Pearl Barlow Center for Memory Evaluation and Treatment at NYU’s Langone Medical Center, will focus on improving your memory.
Sponsors of the event are the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS), White Plains Hospital, Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester and the Coalition on Hispanic Aging.
DSPS created the coalition in 1990 to identify gaps in services to older Spanish-speaking residents. Its members are organizations, agencies and individuals who work with mature Hispanics.
