First Phase of Eastview School Renovations on Pace for Completion this Month

White Plains school officials believe the abatement of the roof at the Eastview Middle School should be completed later this month, well before the start of the school year.

But it will still be a couple of months before all the work is completed for the school’s $1.2 million renovation project.

“It’s been a challenge between the heat and the rain,” said Timothy Connors, interim superintendent of White Plains schools. “But we should have the roofing abatement done in a week or two.”

The roofing and masonry repair project, which began in late June , is expected to cost $1,228,000, according to Fred Seiler, the district’s assistant superintendent for business. It is part of the $48.2 million capital project vote that district voters approved in October.

The second part of the project, which includes masonry repairs to the exterior of the building and the roof replacement, will not be completed until October. The work will take place in areas separated from occupied areas of the building and grounds, all construction workers will be required to wear badges, and noise levels will be kept to a minimum while school is in session.
