Port Chester H.S. Senior Jason Ippolito Named a 2012 Golden Dozen Scholar-Athlete

Award recognizes academic excellence, achievements on the football field and his accomplishments in extra-curricular and community service activities.

Jason Ippolito, a senior at Port Chester High School, has been named to the 2012 Golden Dozen Scholar-Athlete Team by the Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame.

The award is in recognition of his academic excellence, his achievements on the football field and his accomplishments in extra-curricular and community service activities.

“Jason is among the most impressive student/athletes I have coached,” said Port Chester varsity football coach Gregory Domestico.  “He works hard at everything he does and is respected and admired by the entire school community.”

Ippolito has played on the PCHS varsity football team for three years and was captain of the team for the past two years. He has earned many football honors during that time, including MVP, Offensive Back of the Year and an award from Port Chester’s mayor.

He also plays on the PCHS baseball team and volunteers in the community.

Ippolito has maintained an outstanding grade point average while taking challenging courses, including numerous Advanced Placement classes. A member of the school’s National Honor Society, he has received honors for excellence in science and math and was elected to the math and science honor societies.

Ippolito and the other honorees will receive their awards at the NFF awards banquet on Jan. 31 at Westchester Country Club.  Recipients of the 2012 NFF College Scholarships will be announced at that time.

Of all the awards, this one is most special because it considers classroom achievement as well as athletic performance. Congratulations ... to Jason and his folks.
