School Days Added Following Sandy Closures

Chris Clouet, superintendent of the White Plains City School District, announced that four school days will be added to the calendar this year because of missed time during Superstorm Sandy.

Superstorm Sandy has forced some scheduling adjustments this spring because of closures during the storm.

White Plains City Schools will be in session on March 27, as well as possible vacation days on May 23, 24 and 28, announced Superintendent Chris Clouet. City schools were closed for most of the last week of October because of continued power outages and other lingering effects of the storm.

Any other schedule changes will be made depending on the severity of the winter season.

At a recent meeting Clouet also noted that the state legislature is being asked to consider a revision in the mandatory number of days in the school year this year as a result of the storm.
