Stepinac Students Usher in Season of Giving

Fourteen students volunteered to help give out food at St. Crispin's Friary in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday was a half-day for most students at Stepinac High School, but for 14 student volunteers the day was just beginning at 11 a.m.

The students were preparing for a bus ride to St. Crispin's Friary in the Bronx where they will help unload boxes and distribute food to less fortunate families as they prepare for Thanksgiving.

Father Justin Cinnante organized the event, one of several charitable trips available to students throughout the year. He said a lot of students jumped at the chance and 14 were selected to take a bus down to 156th St. in the Bronx.

At St. Crispin's, students will unload and help organize food donations and help with cleanup. Cinnante said students were excited to give their free time after school hours to help others in need.

"They are good at heart," he said. "Things like this, they are touched."
