Third Strike Will Lead to Zero Snow Days for White Plains Schools

White Plains School officials dodged a bullet when they found out the next installment of snow is scheduled for Saturday.

The district has already used up two out of its three snow days.  Once those days are used up, school officials will have to start dipping into the district’s spring vacation days for additional snow days.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens,” said Timothy Connors, interim superintendent of White Plains schools. “We’ll do our best to get through this without changing the schedule.”

Spring recess is scheduled from April 14 to 18 in the White Plains school district.

Though state law in New York requires at least 180 school days, White Plains and many other districts build in additional days into their schedule to accommodate snow days.

New York state law prohibits the use of legal holidays to make up for snow days.
