Spend the Night Under the Stars in White Plains

The inaugural Great White Plains Community Camp Out invites city families and local Scout Troops to camp overnight in Delfino Park on Sept. 15.

White Plains is hosting the ultimate staycation this September when city families and local Scout Troops will spend a night under the moon at . 

“We all know that White Plains offers many suburban/urban amenities – dining, retail, great public schools, arts and culture, stellar parks and recreation programs, Zip Car, electric vehicle charging stations, just to name a few,” said Mayor Tom Roach. “I am happy to say that we can now add camping to that list! I encourage our residents to join us for this fun-filled family camping event.”

The inaugural Great White Plains Community Camp Out will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Sept. 16. Registration ends on Sept. 8 and includes a campsite (maximum 6 persons), nature workshops, hiking, games, inline skating, a magic show, an outdoor movie, campfire, ghost stories and leisure fun for $40 per family.

“What could be better than a family camp out?” asked Recreation and Parks Commissioner Wayne Bass. “Whether you are a novice or experienced camper, this is an opportunity to spend time with your family, under the stars, in the safe confines of Delfino Park.”
