Here are some suggestions for your last weekend in July.

Giant Tag Sale for Grace Church Summer Camp

When/Where: Saturday, July 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Good Counsel Academy (Kearney Gym), 52 N. Broadway, White Plains

Why Go: Fill a bag for $10 or enjoy tons of bargains at rock bottom prices, then refresh yourself at the food tent. All proceeds benefit Grace Church Community Center’s Summer Camp.

Goat Stroll

Where/When:  Saturday, July 28, 2 p.m. at the Greenburgh Nature Center

Why Go: Meet the center’s goats and help take them for a stroll. Join a Nature Center naturalist for an informative stroll through their trails and see what catches the goats’ attention.

Price:  Members $5, non-members $8 ($25 for family).

 

Toy Time with Dinosaurs and Teen Movie Night at White Plains Library

When/Where: Dinosaurs are on Saturday July 28, 1-4 p.m. and the movie is also Saturday, at 2 p.m. at the .

Why Go: Dinosaurs are visiting The Trove: You and your child are invited to enjoy creative, imaginary play with their collection of dinosaurs.

And for teens: The library is offering a different movie each week with pizza and refreshments.Saturday’s featured film is Tim Burton’s “Corpse Bride.”

Price:  Free

 

U- Pick Vegetables

When/Where:  Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m. at in Yorktown Heights

Why Go: Visit the beautiful family friendly farm and pick your own organically and sustainably grown vegetables. Check the website weekly for vegetable updates and for listings of classes and events.  Bring a picnic lunch and hike the trails.

Seussical on Stage in Yorktown

When/Where:  Saturday, July 28, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 29, 1 p.m. at

Why Go:  It is a family-friendly production presented by Yorktown Stage and The Family Theatre Company. Based on the works of Dr. Seuss, the classical colorful tales are seamlessly brought together in a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza. See your favorite Dr. Seuss characters lovingly brought to life, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, the zany Cat in the Hat, and all of the Whos of Whoville.

On Sunday, see 19 time Grammy® Award winner Pat Metheny—the influential and creative guitarist who has performed with artists as diverse as Steve Reich, Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock, and David Bowie, among many others. His all-star group includes: bassist Ben Williams who recently won the Monk Competition, Grammy® nominated saxophonist Chris Potter, and longtime collaborator and drummer Antonio Sanchez.

Season Opening of Wildflower Island

When/Where: Saturday, July 28, 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m; Sunday at 1:30 p.m. through September 30 at in Ossining

Why Go: Within the greater Teatown preserve is a unique 2-acre sanctuary that is home to over 230 native and endangered species of wildflowers. Experienced guides lead visitors along a wondrous tour, describing the unique features of the island’s wildflowers, most of which are native to the area.

Price:  $4.00, event for ages 12 and over.

 

Yonkers Philharmonic Under the Stars

When/Where: Saturday, July 28, 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at Untermyer Park in Yonkers

Why Go:  Yonkers Philharmonic Maestro James Sadewhite will lead the orchestra in this "Music Around the World" concert. The program includes The Star Spangled Banner, Rosini An Italian in Algiers Overture, Lalo Symphonie Espagnol - Byung Kook Kwak – Violin Solo, “Nimrod” from the Enigma Variations, Swedish Rhapsody, Brahms Hungarian Dances 5 & 6 and more.

Price:  Free, bring a chair or a blanket.
