White Plains Campers do the KenKen

About 50 campers from the White Plains Youth Bureau's Bits and Pieces day camp took part in a KenKen competition Friday. The event, which was co-sponsored by the Westchester County Youth Bureau, challenged the campers to use math in fun way.

White Plains Youth Bureau campers put their math skills to good use Friday with KenKen competition.

About 50 campers from the city  Youth Bureau's Bits and Pieces day camp took part in the competition Friday. The event, which was co-sponsored by the Westchester County Youth Bureau, took place at the Church Street School in White Plains.

KenKen is a puzzle game, similar to Sudoku, that requires players to fill grids with numbers while solving mathematical problems. KenKen puzzles are carried daily in the "New York Times" and hundreds of other newspapers. 

Kevin Euyoque took first place in Friday's competition while, Kenedi Catoe took second and Kori Leak placed third.

More than two-dozen IBM employees assisted with the competition along with staff from the local KenKen office, located in Pleasantville.

Millennia The Robot and its creator, Robert Doornik, of International Robotics Inc. of Larchmont, were also present at the competition.
