Who is the Urban Archeologist?

and what does he know about the Oscars?

Hi. You may be reading this in one of the many Patch sites I publish to, thinking, “This guy isn't local?”  I know the feeling. As a patch contributor and reader I, too, have become possessive of what’s showing up on my Patch and wondering at times, “Where did that come from?”

If you've been reading my posts you’ll know that I am someone who can’t pass up an estate, garage, or moving sale of any kind. I spend a few hours each weekend looking for papers and gadgets that have been lost in time. I like to express my opportunity to retrieve, restore and share these finds through blogging, article writing and public speaking.

Though I had been blogging for almost 3 years, I began writing for Patch upon the suggestion of a friend in 2011, and once I saw my first article published, there was no looking back.

In the summer of 2013, Patch moved all contributors of article-style submission to their blogging platform. A change, which at first seemed abhorrent to me, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I now see a lot of additional activity on my personal blog from the lead stories I develop on my Patch blog.

How does this work? Changes to the Patch blogging platform made it possible to create a blog, and re-post that blog anywhere in the country Patch had a site. I took advantage of the opportunity and incrementally added more sites weekly.

And that’s how I sit before you, reader, as an amateur writer with a topic that I am allowed to grow and cultivate through Patch. While I may not be your immediate neighbor I hope you will read my posts and share my excitement for the things I discover, as well as help me solve the mysteries in identifying the things I can’t explain.

The Patch you read now is one in transition while the new owners attempt to balance all the requests of the fans of the old Patch while presenting a new Patch that can afford to stick around for years to come. I hope you’ll give them and me a chance.

If you missed the Oscars, from 1966, you’re going to want to take a look at my latest post. The winners are all listed, but there’s a tiny reference to a then almost unknown Muppet creator for a film unlike anything he is known for. Read the clipping and watch the featured short nominated by clicking here.
