Assemblyman Abinanti Commends Assembly Passage of June Primary Legislation

As Chair of the Assembly Subcommittee on Election Day Operations, I was pleased to see the Assembly pass legislation that moves New York’s State Primaries from September to the June federal primary day.

The new date would be more convenient for voters, who will no longer have to go to the primary polls twice, and save some $50 million. A June primary will undoubtedly increase voter participation and allow military and overseas voters to participate.

I urge the Senate to act swiftly and pass this common sense legislation.
