White Plains Officials Vote On FASNY Monday, Batteries Plus Bulbs Holds Fundraiser for Philippines Typhoon Victims

MONDAY: The Westchester County Board of Legislators is scheduled to meet this morning at 10:30 a.m. to consider a resolution adopting the county budget for 2014.   The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Michaelian Office Building, inside the board's chambers. The Michaelian Office Building is located at 148 Martine Ave. in White Plains.

MONDAY: The White Plains Common Council is scheduled to have a special meeting tonight at 7 p.m. During the meeting, council is expected to vote on the findings statement for the proposed French American School campus on Ridgeway. The meeting will take place at City Hall, located at 255 Main Street. A copy of the meeting agenda can be found here.

TUESDAY:  Batteries Plus Bulbs of White Plains will be donating 25 percent of all retail sales generated on Tuesday, Dec. 10 to the American Red Cross’s Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. Franchise owners Eros and Jennifer Corpus, both born in the Philippines, will be holding the day-long charity event to give back to the Philippines and help those in need. From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., customers can stop by Batteries Plus Bulbs to either stock up on essential batteries and light bulbs or purchase supplies needed for holiday gifts such as toys, digital cameras and mobile devices, and know that a portion of their sales will be donated back to a worthy cause. Snacks and refreshments will also be provided throughout the day.

TUESDAY: The Digital Arts ExperienceOver 40 Females Westchester County Chapter and WestchesterMommy.com are teaming Tuesday for an event benefiting Toys for Tots and The Children's Museum of Westchester. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., people are invited to stop by the DAE to make business connections and new friends, sip wine, do a little shopping, win fabulous raffle prizes, have fun, promote your business, exchange business cards and more. WEDNESDAY: The White Plains Library is hosting "Holiday Crafts - Spa Time" for teens. Attendees will scented body soaps and bath bombs. Refreshments will be served. Registration is not required, but appreciated. Call  Erik Carlson at (914) 422-6923 for more information.

THURSDAY: Health navigators from the Westchester County Department of Health will be at the White Plains Library at 5 p.m. to provide in-person help to individuals seeking more information and assistance in signing up for health insurance as mandated by the Affordable Care Act. No appointment is needed.

Oh sweet irony! The fact that WP common council is voting on the environmental findings statement for FASNY this evening, followed by a link featuring an image of George Soros (http://invests.com/penny-stocks-19#.UqXpiaWPTfM) in the "From the Web" section is really not very funny at all.
