Cat Show Comes to White Plains; Stepinac Students Perform An Enemy of the People; First Baptist Church Hosts Interfaith Service

  • Local students, including 2013 Metro Award Winner Chris Guzman of White Plains, will perform one of Henrik Ibsen's greatest dramas, An Enemy of the People. Performances will be Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Major Bowes Auditorium at Stepinac. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and children under 12 and can be purchases by calling (914) 946-4800 ext. 200.   • The 38th Annual Westchester Cat Show is scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m to 5 p.m., at the Westchester County Center. An array of pedigree cats & kittens will vye for honors, plus there will be a household pet competition.  There will also be an Adopt-A-Thon,  Meow Marketplace, face painting and  guest speakers. The 2013 Cat of the Year, Jake, will also be in attendance. The event costs $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $5 for  children ages  5-12. Children under 5 are free.
  • The Cross County Shopping Center, located at 8000 Mall Walk in Yonkers, will host its 5th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration Saturday at 6 p.m. Westchester families are invited to Cross County Shopping Center for the lighting of a 40-foot tall Christmas tree and a live holiday concert with the East Coast Band, featuring American Idol finalist, Big Mike. Shoppers will also enjoy strolling entertainers, children’s activities, visits with Santa and have the chance to win tickets to Z100 Radio Station’s famed Jingle Ball Concert, held at Madison Square Garden on December 13. 
  • Taconic Opera invites the public to take part in their unique November production of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor.  One performance 
  • of the famous Scottish story will be performed at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, 216 Central Avenue, White Plains 
  • on Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets to the event can be obtained online at www.taconicopera.org, or by calling the toll-free number 855-88-OPERA (855-886-7372). Seating is limited, so reservations or a call just prior to the event are suggested.  Tickets (open seating) are $22, or $15 for seniors and students. 
  • The First Baptist Church of White Plains, located at 456 North St. in White Plains, is hosting an interfaith Thanksgiving service Sunday at 4 p.m. Participating clergy include Rev. Sarah Henkel (White Plains Presbyterian Church), Rabbi Shira Milgrom (Congregation Kol Ami), and Rev. Norman White (Trinity Lutheran Church of White Plains). Rev. Bruce Greer (First Baptist Church of White Plains) is the coordinating minister. John Wolfe, organist at First Baptist, will provide the music. Fellowship and light refreshments follow the service.   • Collegium Westchester is hosting concert Sunday at 8 p.m. inside St. Bartholomew's Church, located at 82 Prospect St. in White Plains. Eric Kramer will conduct the Collegium Westchester Chorus and Orchestra in Bach's Motet BWV 227, Wagner's Sigfried Idyll, and Copland's Appalachian Spring Suite.
