Description: In observance of National Health Center Week the Greenburgh Health Center will host its 13th Annual Community Health Fair in collaboration with the African American Men of Westchester. Health screenings for blood pressure, height, weight, pregnancy, glucose, HIV, vision, emergency contraception, nutrition, prostate, breast, colorectal and cervical cancer and family planning will be available free of charge.

White Plains: Sizzlin' Summer BBQ Wine & Cocktails Tasting Weekend

Where: Corx Wine & Liquor, 1205 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY

When: Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 17 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

White Plains: Grill & Game Night

Where: First Baptist Church of White Plains, 456 North St., White Plains

When: Friday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Join us on the lawn behind Wilson House for an evening of fun, good food and outdoor games. Indoors, in the event of rain. Bring a dish to share. Hamburgers, frankfurters, buns and beverages provided by First Baptist. Free parking in our Bryant Avenue lot.

White Plains: TOY TIME with Dinosaurs

Where: White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave. 

When: Saturday, Aug. 7, at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: There are dinosaurs in The Trove White Plains Library’s this week. Parents and children are invited to enjoy independent, imaginative play with the library’s  fantastic collection of toy dinosaurs.

Croton: Cooking with Kids Class

Where: The Ajna Center for Wellness & Community, 8 Old Post Rd S  Croton-on-Hudson

Description: Introduce your kids to cooking and encourage a positive association with food! The class will introduce different kitchen tools and processes and we will eat the results of our work! Age: 3 - 5

Hastings: Kids Day Tennis Carnival

Where/When: Tennis Club of Hastings (100 River St.) on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: Face painting, a bouncy castle, lunch, tennis games and more are on tap at the new Tennis Club.

Ossining: Outdoor Screening of ‘Angels with Dirty Faces’

Where: Under the Guard Tower at Playground Area, Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Ossining

When: Friday, August 16, 2013, 9:00 PM

Cost: Free

Description: The Village of Ossining’s Bicentennial Celebration continues with a showing of the 1938 American gangster classic “Angels with Dirty Faces” on Ossining’s beautiful waterfront adjacent to where it was originally filmed, Sing Sing Prison. Starring James Cagney, Pat O'Brien, and Humphrey Bogart. Pre-movie concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or comfortable low-back chair. Pleasantville: A Thousand Arks

Where/When: Little Village Playhouse on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.
Why go: A musical about what really happened on Noah's Ark is playing in Pleasantville Saturday night. A Thousand Arks contains adult content and language. Purchase tickets in advance here.

Sleepy Hollow: Chamber Music Festival

Where: Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow, 430 North Broadway

When: Saturday, August 17, 4 p.m.

Cost: Free (free-will offering will be collected)

Description: The 2nd Annual Caroga Lake Chamber Music Festival comes to the Old Dutch Church, featuring instrumental artists from premier conservatories and music schools. This concert will showcase ensembles performing repertoire including Mendelssohn Octet, Barber Adagio for Strings, Shostakovich Octet, and chamber music shorts from Bridge, Britten, Elgar and the Great American Songbook. The festival showcases artists from across the country who attend/have attended premiere music conservatories and music schools including the Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute, Eastman School, Rice Shepherd School, San Francisco Conservatory, Yale School of Music and Carnegie Mellon, in addition to faculty at San Diego State School of Music. The young artists have appeared on NPR's From the Top and won various prizes at international solo and chamber music competitions.

Somers: Summer Concert Series to Benefit 'Adopt an Artifact' Program

When: Saturday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. 

Where: Mt. Zion Church, a National Register site located in Reis Park in Somers

Cost: Free

Description: The concert is free and will feature classic rock music by the Throwbacks. Donations will be accepted for the Somers Historical Society Student Historians' 'Adopt an Artifact' program. The students have created a blog to chronicle their work and begun the program to highlight some of Somers' artifacts, but also to raise money to help preserve, conserve and or better protect those objects. Yorktown: Softball Tournament Raises Money for Woman Battling Cancer

When: Saturday, Aug. 17 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Yorktown High School

Cost: The suggested donation is $5 to get in and people can buy tickets for everything offered there.

Description: The diagnosis of a stage IV kidney cancer at age 30 came as a big surprise to Meagan Blackmore, a 2000 Yorktown High School graduate who is now fighting for her life. To help pay for Blackmore's medical expenses and living costs while she is fighting the cancer, a group of friends have set up a fundraising website MegStrong and organized a number of events, including a softball tournament fundraiser at Yorktown High School.
