White Plains Schools Host Forum on Superintendent Search; Special Needs PTA Hosts Workshop

TODAY: Kate Buford, author of the biography Burt Lancaster: An American Life, is holding discussion on the life of Burt Lancaster at the Jewish Community Center on the Hudson today at 10:30 a.m. Lancaster is known to audiences around the world as the electrifying performer of Gunfight at the O.K. TODAY: The White Plains school district is hosting the first of three public forums on its superintendent search today at 5:30 p.m. inside the White Plains High School Media Center. The high school is located at 550 North Street in White Plains.

TUESDAY: The Archdiocese of New York is holding “Touring Tuesdays” for Catholic Schools of central Westchester County. Prospective families are invited to visit Catholic elementary schools in the region. TUESDAY: Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting a free class on post joint replacement rehabilitation on Nov. 19 from 2 p.m.  to 3 p.m., in Room G-41 of the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital’s Wood Building located at 785 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains. The class will feature presentations by a cross-functional team from Burke. The goal is to provide patients a better understanding of what to expect after joint replacement surgery. TUESDAY: The renowned Westchester Chordsmen Chorus is offering a one-night only opportunity for men who sing, to audition and join the Chorus. WEDNESDAY: The White Plains Special Needs PTA is hosting a workshop 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Post Road School Media Center focusing on simple, practical strategies that are simple and can effectively improve your child's motivation regarding homework. The event is open and free to the public. The Post Road School is located at 175 West Post Rd. in White Plains.

The White Plains High School PTA will be hosting a Financial Literacy Night for Teens & Parents on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. inside the high school Media Center. FRIDAY: The Archbishop Stepinac High School Drama Club is hosting a production of  An Enemy of the People. Local students, including 2013 Metro Award Winner Chris Guzman of White Plains, will perform one of Henrik Ibsen's greatest dramas. Performances will be Nov. 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Major Bowes Auditorium at Stepinac.
